Comerica Charitable Foundation Gives More Than $6 Million in Michigan During 2006

DETROIT, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Throughout Michigan, the Comerica Charitable Foundation gave nearly $6.2 million in charitable gifts during 2006. The announcement was made today by Linda Forte, president, Comerica Charitable Foundation. Overall, this equates to a more than $16,500 daily contribution to institutions that promote economic, social and cultural growth.

"Looking back on 2006 we are encouraged by the focus and impact of our charitable giving and many of these partnerships will pay even greater dividends to our community in 2007 and beyond," Forte said.

"A prime example is the Junior Achievement Finance Park facility, which had its Detroit grand opening in October. Comerica is excited to support this project which will provide students with a hands-on lesson on how to manage money. We believe the lessons learned by the students will be absolutely vital to Detroit's future, as this information is shared throughout the communities Comerica serves."

In Michigan, Comerica awards grants at the end of four grant seasons throughout the year with a primary focus on programs supporting economic self- sufficiency for low and moderate income individuals and families; neighborhood revitalization; education; access to health care; and programs supporting diversity and inclusion.

Comerica is seeking applications for its winter grant season through March 31. Grants applied for during this period will be announced April 15. Nonprofit organizations wishing to apply for a grant may send a request to the Comerica Charitable Foundation at P.O. Box 75000, Detroit, Mich. 48275-3390.

Funded completely by Comerica Incorporated, the Comerica Charitable Foundation was established in November 1997 as a non-profit corporation with the sole purpose of funding charitable causes.
