DETROIT, May 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Board of Directors of
Comerica Incorporated (NYSE: CMA) today approved the appointment of Jon W.
Bilstrom as general counsel and corporate secretary, effective June 1, 2003.

Bilstrom succeeds George W. Madison, who has resigned his position as
executive vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel, effective
May 30, 2003, to become executive vice president and general counsel of
Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America College Retirement
Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF), headquartered in New York City.
Bilstrom, an executive vice president, will continue to serve as the
corporation's chief Governance and Regulatory Affairs officer, a position he
has held since joining Comerica in January 2003. He previously was president
and chief executive officer of The Bar Plan Mutual Insurance Company, and had
served for nearly nine years as general counsel and secretary to the board of
directors at Mercantile Bancorporation.
