Comerica To Serve As Headline Sponsor For 2019 Sundays In The Garden At Cultivate Coffee & Tap House
Summer series spans 12 weeks helping nonprofits

Detroit, June 12, 2019 – Comerica Bank will serve as the headline sponsor supporting the 12-week Sundays in the Garden summer series presented by Cultivate Coffee & Tap House. The free-of-charge public event benefits 12 different nonprofits by converging community activism, local music and area craft breweries.

In all, 17 artists and 14 local brewing companies will participate throughout June, July and August.

Cultivate, a coffee and tap house located at 307 N. River St., in Ypsilanti, invests in the community through social entrepreneurship, sustainability and volunteerism. Cultivate’s employees and volunteers have logged over 6,000 hours assisting local nonprofit organizations and, in partnership with their customers, have donated nearly $116,000 to community organizations via tips, concerts and themes events/tap takeovers.

Since it first opened, Cultivate has featured an on-site garden with 12 raised-beds. Produce harvested from the garden is then distributed to Food Gatherers, which disbursed 6.3 million pounds of food to 170 partner programs last year and over 91 million over the 30-year history of the community outreach service.

“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Cultivate to support Sundays in the Garden and their work as social entrepreneurs in the community,” said Kristine Kerns, Comerica Bank Ann Arbor Regional President. “Cultivate’s unique approach to giving back should inspire others to find creative ways to do greater good for those in need. Together, we can all make a positive difference.

“We look forward to seeing the ongoing impact from Sundays in the Garden around craft, community and cause.”

Sundays in the Garden kicks off June 16 at 6 p.m. with artists Channing and Quin, along with special guest Heather Quillen, highlighting the evening’s entertainment. Short’s Brewing Company will be on tap. The season’s first event will benefit We The People Opportunity Center, which will offer programming and employment readiness in organic farming and related fields to local youth and returning citizens. The Opportunity Center is a catalyst the We the People Grower’s Association (WTPGA), a sustainable farming initiative dedicated to workforce development by creating dignified, employment and training for men and women returning home from incarceration.
