Comerica Bank Attains Silver Status As Veteran-Friendly Employer
Comerica Bank improves on its bronze-level certification earned in 2017
Jun 6, 2018
DETROIT/June 6, 2018 – Comerica Bank has been recognized as a certified silver-level Veteran-Friendly Employer (VFE) by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.
Almost 200 organizations across the state are certified VFE at the bronze-, silver- or gold-level. Comerica Bank is one of 19 organizations certified at the silver level. Comerica's policy for military leaves of absence and its practice on actively considering qualified veteran applicants enabled it to improve its certification to the silver level.
“We value the experience and dedication members of the military bring to Comerica,” said Michael T. Ritchie, president of Comerica Bank-Michigan. “It’s an honor to be recognized as a Veteran-Friendly Employer and to assist those who put their lives at risk in service to our nation.”
Last year, VFEs hired more than 2,000 veterans. An estimated 14,500 have been hired since 2015.
“The Veteran-Friendly Employer program has been a great success, helping veterans to find good jobs and employers to find qualified workers, and I appreciate Comerica for being an integral part of its success,” said MVAA Director James Robert Redford. “Through this growing program we are not only helping Michigan’s veterans identify job providers who value and want them, but we’re also working with those job providers to develop internal processes and programs to support employees who are veterans and active military members and their families.”
