Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain Host Second Annual “Shred Day Houston” on April 5
Community Shredding Event Highlights Identify Theft Protection, Recycling
Two Non-Perishable Food Item Donation Suggested to Support the Houston Food Bank

HOUSTON, TX – (March 13, 2013) – Comerica Bank and storage and information management services company Iron Mountain Incorporated today announced they will reunite to host the second annual Shred Day Houston, a document shredding event, on Saturday, April 5, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free shredding event, held at Comerica Bank’s Mangum Banking Center (2201 Mangum Road, Houston, 77092), is offered as a public service to the Houston community and is designed to raise awareness of identity theft prevention and the importance of recycling. In addition, volunteers from the Houston Food Bank will be onsite to collect suggested donations of non-perishable food items.

The event is free and open to the public, and Iron Mountain will shred up to four boxes or bags of personal or business paper documents per vehicle. All of the paper collected at Shred Day Houston will be turned into pulp and recycled after being securely destroyed.

“While identify theft affects millions each year, one effective preventive step everyone can take is to securely destroy sensitive paper documents that contain personal information by shredding. Shredding and recycling paper also conserves natural resources, saves energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and saves landfill space, said J. Downey Bridgwater, Comerica Bank’s Houston Market President. “Comerica Bank again is pleased to join Iron Mountain in securely shredding and recycling paper documents for free at Shred Day Houston. Our efforts also will assist the Houston Food Bank in serving our community by encouraging participants to bring much-needed, non-perishable food items.”

This marks the second community shredding event in the Houston market hosted by Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain. The two companies have hosted similar Shred Day events in Michigan, California and in Dallas, Texas. In 2012, Shred Day DFW, the event held in North Texas, earned a Guinness World Records® honor for the most paper collected and shredded in a 24-hour period.
