DETROIT, Mich. (Aug. 29, 2013) – After two weeks of public voting and careful deliberation from a panel of judges, Batch Brewing Company was crowned winner of the 2013 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest.

“We’re so thrilled to have had so many great business ideas compete in this year’s competition and the support we’ve received from the public has been tremendous,” said Nick Gorga, co-founder of Hatch Detroit. “Batch Brewing Company has really earned this. From the minute we read their application, we were inspired.”

Batch Brewing Company aims to become Detroit’s first nano-brewing company, adding their own beer to Detroit’s ranks while seeking to help other small breweries develop their brand through their “Brewery Incubator” program.

In addition to the $50,000 grand prize courtesy of Comerica Bank, Batch Brewing Company will receive legal, accounting and IT services from Hatch Detroit sponsors.

“Detroit is proving to be the place to be for entrepreneurs,” said Michael T. Ritchie from Comerica. “It’s great to see new businesses being embraced by the community and we couldn’t be more proud to support Hatch Detroit in moving this city forward.”

In its third year, the Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest received more than 200 submissions and more than 41,800 public votes.
