Free Community Shredding Event to Help Consumers, Business Owners Securely Destroy Sensitive Paper Documents
Two Non-Perishable Food Item Donation Suggested to Support the Houston Food Bank

HOUSTON, TX – (March 13, 2013) – Comerica Bank and storage and information management services company Iron Mountain Incorporated today announced that they will team up to host the first annual Shred Day Houston, a free document shredding event, on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 8am to 4pm. The free shredding event, to be held at Comerica Bank’s Mangum Banking Center (2201 Mangum Road, Houston, 77092), is offered as a public service to the Houston community and is designed to raise awareness of identity theft prevention and recycling. In addition, volunteers from the Houston Food Bank will be onsite to collect suggested donations of non-perishable food items.

The event is free and open to the public, and Iron Mountain will shred up to four boxes or bags of paper documents per vehicle. One hundred percent of the paper collected at Shred Day Houston will be turned into pulp and recycled after being securely destroyed.

“Comerica Bank is thrilled to join Iron Mountain to help Houstonians protect themselves from identity theft by securely destroying sensitive paper documents for free at Shred Day Houston,” said J. Downey Bridgwater, Comerica Bank’s Houston Market President. “Since all of the paper collected at Shred Day Houston will be recycled, we’ll be helping reduce pollution, preserve landfill space and save trees. Plus, we’ll be helping the Houston Food Bank serve our community by encouraging participants to bring much-needed food items. We encourage all Houstonians to do some financial spring cleaning and join us on April 6 for Shred Day Houston.”

This event marks the first community shredding event in the Houston market hosted by Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain. The two companies have hosted similar Shred Day events in Michigan, California and in Dallas, Texas. In 2012, Shred Day DFW earned a Guinness World Records® honor for the most paper collected and shredded in a 24 hour period.
