Comerica Bank and the Detroit Red Wings Face Off Against Fire
Comerica expands the 11th annual smoke detector drive

DETROIT/Oct. 8, 2012 – Comerica Bank and the Detroit Red Wings are teaming up to collect new smoke detectors for low-income families and elderly citizens across southeast Michigan. The collection begins Tuesday, Oct. 9, with the start of National Fire Prevention Week, and runs through Friday, Nov. 16.

Comerica customers can drop smoke detectors into specially marked boxes at more than 140 Comerica banking centers and office buildings in southeast Michigan. All donated smoke detectors will be distributed through fire departments in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties. Local fire officials will provide smoke detectors to low-income families as well as elderly and disabled members of the community.

“Fire prevention is a very important cause and we’re pleased to partner with Comerica on this initiative,” said Olympia Entertainment President & CEO Tom Wilson. “The Red Wings organization prides itself on giving back to the community and we’re delighted that this smoke detector collection will help protect disadvantaged Metro Detroit residents.”

“We are proud to join with the Detroit Red Wings in assisting the community with the Face Off Against Fire smoke detector drive,” said Thomas D. Ogden, president, Comerica Bank-Michigan. “We are pleased to expand our participation in the program this year by having collection boxes in all Comerica locations in southeast Michigan. Together with the Red Wings, we hope to make a greater impact in our community.” To find a Comerica Bank location near you visit www.comerica.com/local.

The smoke detector collection at Comerica banking centers is in addition to collections at Detroit Red Wings’ games at Joe Louis Arena. Comerica Cares volunteers and local firefighters will collect the smoke detectors at each entrance as fans arrive to watch the Wings face off against the Boston Bruins on Dec. 10 and the Phoenix Coyotes on Dec. 13.
