Comerica Bank Unveils New Financial Literacy Collection Funded by $50,000 Donation for Two Southern Dallas Libraries
Comerica to Host Free Financial Literacy Workshops at North Oak Cliff, Polk-Wisdom Library Branches in 2011

DALLAS, TX (November 9, 2010)Comerica Bank, along with the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, today unveiled the new Comerica Bank Financial Literacy Collection at Dallas’ North Oak Cliff Library. The collection of new materials, including the first shipment of 335 books, audio books and DVDs, was made possible by Comerica’s recent $50,000 charitable contribution to the non-profit group Friends of the Dallas Public Library. When complete, the new financial literacy collection will host more than 2,500 new items at the North Oak Cliff and Polk-Wisdom library branches.

Above and beyond the $50,000 donation for new materials, Comerica also announced it will host a series of free financial literacy workshops, open to the public, at both the North Oak Cliff and Polk-Wisdom libraries starting in Spring 2011. The workshops, taught by Comerica financial literacy experts, will be offered for children, teens and adults and will cover topics ranging from budgeting and saving to raising your credit score.

“Comerica is committed to enhancing the communities we serve, and one way to do that is by providing people with better access to information that will help them be successful,” said J. Patrick Faubion, Texas Market President for Comerica Bank. “We hope the new materials in our Financial Literacy Collection, along with the financial literacy skills training that Comerica will provide in 2011 will be invaluable tools to help people achieve financial success.”

Dallas City Councilmembers Delia Jasso and Dave Neumann were on hand along with representatives of Comerica Bank, community leaders and library staff to greet community members and library patrons.

“There has been a great demand for financial literacy materials in this area, and unfortunately, that demand grew at a time when our budget for new materials decreased,” said Corinne Hill, Interim Director of the Dallas Public Libraries. “Previously, these two libraries have been able to provide few resources on the subject. But now, with Comerica’s generous gift, we can provide new materials we otherwise would not have been able to purchase.”
