Comerica Venture and Corporate Development Group Adds Financial Services Veteran Michael Weeks

Palo Alto, California/September 23, 2003 -- Comerica Bank, a leading financial services company, announced today that financial services veteran Michael Weeks has joined its Venture and Corporate Development Group as a senior vice president. The group, which is part of the bank's Technology and Life Sciences Division, focuses on strengthening ties with the venture capital community and pursuing other corporate development initiatives.

"We are delighted to have Mike join our team, as he has a tremendous amount of experience working with the venture capital community," said Jim Ellison, managing director of the Venture and Corporate Development Group. "Comerica views its technology practice as critical, and that commitment is being demonstrated by providing our group with the resources it needs to grow and prosper."

Weeks brings nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services arena to Comerica. He most recently served as manager of Wealth Management, Northern California, at City National Bank, and prior to that, managed the Palo Alto office of US Trust. The majority of Weeks' career-more than 14 years-has been in the technology finance and venture capital sectors, as senior vice president, manager of Silicon Valley Bank's Venture Capital Group; vice president at Phoenix Growth Capital; and director at Pacific Venture Finance.

"I'm really anxious to get back into the venture finance arena," Weeks said. "Jim and I have worked together in this sector before, during periods of considerable growth. We both feel pretty strongly that the market is ready to experience a significant rebound, so this is a great time to lay the foundation for taking advantage of upcoming opportunities."
