Comerica Bank Honors Local Heroes with Home of the Brave Singing Contest
Southeast Mich. police, fire, military members and veterans invited to enter

DETROIT/Aug. 4, 2014 – As part of Fan Appreciation Weekend at Comerica Park, Comerica Bank will again give back to local heroes through the Home of the Brave National Anthem singing contest. The field of entrants has been expanded this year to include southeast Michigan active and veteran military members as well as police and firefighters/EMTs. The contest runs Aug. 4 through Aug. 24, 2014.

“Police, firefighters and members of the military put their lives on the line protecting our communities and our country,” said Mike Ritchie, president of Comerica Bank–Michigan. “This is our way of recognizing their service and sacrifice while saying thank you to the best and bravest.”

In addition to being offered the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the Sept. 27, 2014, Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park, the winner will receive 35 tickets to the game and a $10,000 grant to their police station or fire station, military unit or one of two military nonprofit organizations – Wounded Warrior Project or The John D. Dingell VA Medical Center.

Police officers, firefighters and military members who are interested in entering should upload a video of themselves singing the National Anthem to YouTube and submit it through the Home of the Brave tab on the Comerica Cares Facebook page. Entrants must be 18 years or older and a police officer, firefighter or military member.  Police officers and firefighters must serve in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston counties. Active members of the military and veterans must serve in, live in, or be a native of the same counties. Previous winners of the Home of the Brave contest are not eligible.

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges from the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Bank and narrowed down to the top 10 contestants. On Sept. 3, the top 10 videos will be available on the Comerica Cares Facebook page and open for public voting. Voting ends Sept. 20 and the winner will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
