DALLAS, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Comerica Bank today announced its 2014 National Days of Service will be underway for several weeks beginning Friday, Sept. 5, culminating in a series of volunteer events on Saturday, Sept. 27. The multi-week community service focus in Comerica's markets of Texas, Arizona, California, Florida and Michigan helps shine a spotlight on the importance of employee volunteerism.

"One of the best ways to make a positive difference in the communities where we live and work is to give back," said Patricia McCann, vice president and civic affairs manager for Comerica, who coordinates the bank's volunteer program. "By devoting their personal time and talents to worthwhile community activities, our colleagues are raising the expectations of what a bank can be. That is, we do more than make loans and take deposits. We are trusted advisors, and have an unwavering commitment to the communities we serve."

Nearly 50 separate days of service projects are contemplated over the next several weeks, according to McCann. "Our colleagues will fan out across the markets we operate in to serve on clean-up crews, and help out at food banks, soup kitchens and resale stores, among other activities," McCann said.

The 2014 National Days of Service effort will help the bank get closer to its goal of 72,000 volunteer hours for the year.  The estimated value of those 72,000 hours is $1.62 million, according to the U.S. Department of Labor and Statistics.
